MEETINGS, ENTERTAIN. MENTS, &c.
A successful .social in aid of tbe school treat fund was held at Halswell on Friday" evening. During the evening selections were played by the newly-formed Prebbleton Brass Band, tinder the leadership of Bandmaster Smith. The bachelors of Horornta held their annual social on Friday night. Songs were sun| by Mrs Baker, ili-s Borwick, Misses Mati'ey and Ellison, Messrs Nelson Bro., Heath, Guinery, and Suckling. The gathering was a very enjoyable one. The Rev. J. Millar Thomson, M.A., gave an interesting lecture in connection with the "Lincoln Presbyterian Sunday gtfhoolon "A Trip to the Wonderland of New_ Zealand." Musical items were contributed % 'Misses Dtiim, Sagar, and Messrs Simpson, £. A. Smith, and W. Dunn. A recitation was also given by Miss Thompson. ,-i Montgomery's Entertainers gave a successful entertainment at the Leeston Town Hall on Friday night. There was a large audience present.
