The presentation from the people of Canterbury will take place this afternoon, at the City Council Chamber?. A large number of Marshland residents met in the Schoolrom on Friday evening to bid farewell to Mr R. R. Walter, who bee been transferred to Napier. On behalf of the 3larshland Cricket Club, of which Mr Waiter hae been a member for come years, and secretory for the past two year*, (Mr Geo. Cox, in the absence of the President, Mr 'Malcolm, presented him with a gold medal, «iitably inscribed, together with a portmanteau. A pleasant evening was spent in music, dancing, and games. Mr Drake ley, who is severing hie connection with the Kaiapoi Company's Woollen Mill, wa s presented on Saturday with a handsome lamp by the employees of the knitting department. Mr D. Mullftne, who is leaving Waiau to take up la.nd, wae presented with a purse of sovereigns on Friday evening subscribed by the owner and employees of Lyndon station. Mr D. D. Macfarlane. ir> making the presentation, referred in very complimentary terms to Mr Mullane's 17 years' connection with Lyndon, expressed regret at 'hie keying, and wished hint every success in his new venture.
