LINWOOD v. ALBION.
In this match, which wa* played , on the west.ground,,Linwood hadan easy win, by '27 points (a gjoal from a try, a potted goal and six tries), to nil. L:nwr.od (Green and Black) Yon the toss, and vrith thfe advantage of the wind in tine first spelL Albion (Black) kicked off from the north end. After an exchange oif lticks play settled, tlown in midfield for a tbtie, but the Greens soon set up an attack on 'tha Albion line, and a series of passing rushes had die Blacks busily defending. While in the Albion ttven.ty-fiye the ball came out to A- Green, the Limvood full-back, who registered the first score for his side by potting an easy goal. - After the- kick-out the Blacks rallied, and (\s the result of a forward lush, Linwood! ivere forced down. Linwood, Jtowever, quicMy asserted themselves again, and carried play to their opponents' twenty-five, and , after some scrambling on the iine, Matthews eooredi a try, which P-hiHipa failed to convert. The Icckout failed to -bring Albioh. any relief, and seme passing between the Linwood backs gave McGregor a chance to score, of which he took advantage. Phillips wasr again -unsuccessful with the kick at goal. The Greens maintained tJie attack, and within a few minutes McGregor registered his second, try. ReveH's lack failed to improve the score. A periodi of indecisive play followed, but the Blacks were quickly compelled to act on the defensive a,gain, and passing between, Pihillips, Onnandy and 'Gaw enabled' tie last-named) to score a, try. ReveU made a gjood, but unsuccessful, shot at goal. Half-time, was calkd a few minubse later, withi play in thfe centtfe. On the resumption of the game, Linwood at onoa attacked, and after a passing rush', Fanning scored a try, Phillips failing to lock a goal. Some useful kicking by G. Gray and Weston cleared the Albion lines, but only for a time, andi tie Greens opoe more assumed the aggressive, and/ passing between SmMi, Pihillips, ReveM, and McGregor enabled the last-named to score an easy try. The kick,' a very easy one, was missed by Phillips. Give" and take play followed, until just on the call of time, Gaw scored again for Linwood, Green being successful with ths shot at goal. Mr R. W.
