The Canterbury Gymnastic Club and School of Physical Culture, which ha* for its headquarters the Choral Hall, has postponed its opening night until Monday next in order to allow Mdlle. Dolores to' give her farewell recital. Messrs Haxker, '■ Bush, and Jewiss have made very complete '. arrangements. There will be three evening practices next week, ou Monday, Tuesday, and Friday. The parish meeting in connection wi{Jf St. Mary's, Merivale, will be held this evening, at eight o'clock, in the schoolroom. A garden party in aid of the funds of St. Paul's, Papanui, will be li-eld. in the grounds of Major and .Mrs Snow-, Papanui road, to-day, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. A very excellent programme of amusements* "has been provided. Mr lMy notifies elsewhere his intention of offering himself as a candidate for Xβ" election as Mayor of Kaiapoi.
