GRAIN AND PRODUCE MARKETS.

(BT On COMMERCIAL MOTOR.) Tuesday Evening. Like the Treatise , experienced recently, the gq&in maricet may 'be described as "unsettled." Rain has interfered with deliveries, and the anticipated damage dome by the floods to the crops, more especially -wheat, appears to have been greater than at first estimatetL Generally, farmers show a disinclination to operate whilst the weather is so uncertain, and cases are met with -wihere produce has been bought about a week ago for "immediate delivery," and a» delivery has yet been obtained. About the only line that is really moving is wheat, but we difficulty experienced in obtaining this cereal in satisfactory condition and suitable quantities makes it somewhat hard to determine what the bed-rock quotations are. In some instances millers have been almost compelled to buy at any ! price which "was not absolutely unreason.I able. One sale, an exceptional one it should be stated, is reported to have been effected at 3s 6d at a country station over twenty miles from port. Other, and more recent, sales at distant country stations are said to have been effected ait 3s 3£d and 3s 4d. It is well within the mark to state, that the average price of the cereal is from 39 4d to 3s 5d Consequent, apparently, on the increased value of wheat, the Mounnillera' Association have advanced tfae price of flour to £9 per ton, and the price of bran, in sympathy, has been raised to £4, an increase of ss. With regard to oats, theme is still no ap- \ parent movement, and the remarks made in our last report remain applicable to the present state of the market. Regarding the potato market there is not much to record, with tihe exception that Derwents have changed (hands art. 455. Recent cable advices from Sydney are to tihe effect that the market is lower, which eeenv to indicate that the Tasmaoian crop is i good one.
