'AN EXCZDMIG ARREST.- '
A young man is reported to ihave been the victim pi a. rather serious assault in ■the Masonic Hotel, Shortly after rhalf-past ten o'clock laeJt night, as tibe outcome of an altercation with another man. The arresfc of (the alleged assailant was rather exoiting. The cries of "Police ,, brought Sergeant Dougan immediately to tlie spot, and Constaables Wade and Baggurie were on the scene soon afterwards. Constable Wfade saw .the accused 1 makin.2 for the door, and, hearing someone cry out, "That's >£he man," ran after him. T<he man made through Cathedral square, up Chancery lane, and , along Gloucester street, followed closely by the constatve. Hβ was overtat en in front of the Canterbury Ha£l, and taken to tlie Police Station on a charge uf assaul'T.
