JOCKEY CLUB. The ; Autumn Mieeting of the South Canterbury Jockey Club will begin at the Waehdyke Racecourse, to-day, and be continued on Thursday! Good fields are engaged in all the events, which may result as follows:—Maiden Plate, Clanburn; Dash Handicap, Antigone; Autumn Handicap, Lady Lillian: welter Handicap, Clanburn; Flying Handicap, Antigone or Sosemere; Selling Race, Cannonshot or Bonaparte.

NOTES. The ' following houses left for Timaru by. the early'-train'yesterday, to take part in. the Autumn Meeting of the South Canterbury Jockey Club, 'commencing to-day:—Terra-pin, Clanbiirn, Cameo, Rosemere, Bawmore, Kotokoto, Antigone, Clandeboye, Pallas, Pheethon—Thorns colt, Ordnanoe, Blunderbuss, Amazon,, Narcissus, Calibre, Magnificent, and Lady Medallist. A Press Association telegram states that at a meeting of the Dunedin Jockey Club Committee, Mr G r Dowse, handicapper, forwarded an explanation &s to his handicapping of the, horses of Messrs W. R. Quinn, J. R. Mackenzie and H. Friedlander, at the last Autumn Meeting. After consideration the explanation was accepted. According to a Sydney cable message, Dandy was purchased for 800 guineas. Together with. Caledonia and Peppercorn, ha was purchased by. Mr Allen, for South Africa.
