ANOTHER BETTING CASE.
Matthew Barnett was charged at the Magistrate's Court, yesterday, before Mr R. Beetham, S.M., with making a bet, on January 21st, with William Wales, on the result of the Wellington Cup Jiace. Mr Stringer appeared- for the prosecution and Mr Harper for the defendant. Application was made by Mr Harper for an adjournment until the charge of keeping a gaining house had been heard by ithe Supreme Court, as tl£ one case might" possibly influence the other, and it was only fair that no risk should be taken of prejudicing either case. No objection was offered by Mr Stringer, and the matter was adjourned.
