SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
WALTHAM. Ths Waltha-m School Committee met on Thursday evening. The head master reported tliat the average attendance for-the quarter ending Murch 31st had bsen 444, the roll niamber beinsj 526. Two piroils, Mostyn Jones and Thomas Sim, had been recommended to the Board for free art studentships for. the j-ear 1902. A circular was received from ihe Board of Education, notifying the Committee of the reduction in the incidental allowance, and the Committee 'expressed its regret that the Board had been comi>eii;ed to reduce the allowance. It was resolved to renew the application for a caretaker's cottage. The Waltham Football Club was granted permission to play on the school grounds on the usual conditions. A vote of thanks was passed to the Chairman (Mr J. B. Sim) for the way in which he had carried out the duties cif the office for the. pasli year, and to Mr Gow, the treasurer.
