(PBESS ASSOCIATION , TELEGRAMS.) WANGANUI, December 18. At the Magistrate's Court to-day, Dudley Eyre was remanded till Friday, on charges of embezshng moneys at Wangantu in 1887. He left the colony for 'Frisco in June, 1888, and returned five yean ago, since which time he has been residing in ' the Auckland district. WELLINGTON, December 18. The Agricultural Department is making enquiries as to the extent of the accommodation available for the storage of flax at the principal porte of the colony! The information is desired to enable th« Department to arrange for the compulsory grading of all hemp lor export. Mr Fulton, the present grader, will be stationed in Wellington, and two or three additional experts will be appointed for tbe* other chief flax centres. DUNEDIN, December 18. At a meeting .of the Hospital Trueteee a firm of solicitors wrote that a former patient named William Hunter had! left by oie will £633 -for the benefit pf the Hospital. It was mentioned that this w%s probably the best Teply to the recent allegations.
