They must also,iat the time of application, possess a first-class certificate of competency as engineer. They must forward a medical certificate showing that they are m good health and of a robust constitution. Applicants ma»t give full particulars of their service on shore* and at sea, and forward copies of any letters of recommendation, testimonials, discharges, and certificates that they may possess. ; The salary payable will bo at the rate of £275 per witt , ™ ;' The selected applicant will be reouired to undertake the duties of Inspector of Machi-pery, Engineer Surveyor, Examiner of Engineers, and generally such work as he may be required to perform by this department. The appointment will be subject to the provisions of "The Civil Service Reform Act, 1886," and "The Civil Service Insurance Act, 1893." ■ Applications will be received up to the 31st DECEMBER, 19Q1. and the selected candidate will be required to commence hie duties about the beginning of February next.
