MAGISTRATES' COURTS.
INEBRIETY. .Vγ H. W. Bishop, S.M., presided et Uie Magistrate's Court yesterday, and fined John Hamptcn.and Mary Kellett, alias Cameron, 10s, in default forty-eight hours imprisonment for inebriety. . Dennis Hegarty, charged with being" found helplessly drunk, was remanded for a week for medical treatment. ALLEGED THEFT. John Hampton was further charged -with stealing £10 from the house of James McLellan, at Greymoutb, He stated that the matter had been settled, and that MoLellan had given him 10s to (proceed on his road with. The Magistrate adjourned the case until Saturday, so that the police might find out whether or not the prosecutor wished to proceed with the case. REFUSING TO QUIT. For refusing to quit the premises of the Al Hotel when intoxicated, and when asked to. do so, John Mills was fined 20s and costs. ' . MAINTENANCE CASES. Wm. Hy. Perrin was ordered to pay 10s a week towards his wife's support, and 6e ; 8d a week towards that of each of three i children. John George Mclntosh, in ar- j rears with an order, was given one" month's \ hard labour, thfi>. warrant to be susjpended : for a week to^ allow of payment., . . '■ AFFILIATION CASES. . Raro Hauiopua, amative from.the Wairarapa, was adjudged the putative father of an illegitimate child, and ordered<ito pay, 7g«, with expenses, and 5s a week. r R©» ben Campion, in a similar case, was ordered to pay 5s > week towards the child's support: . . . : ■ ALLEGED ASSAULT ON A CONSTABLE. In the case of Walter J. Dennis, who was charged with assaulting Constable McInnew on the l(>th, Pr;.Ovenden gave evidence that two bones in Dennis's hand were fractured, and that ;he was 7 badly, bruieed/ At the request of Mr Joynt, who appeared for the accused, an adjournment wae granted forgone w^eek. At Lyttelton yesterday, before Oapt.Whitby,.Jonn Bailey, who had been remanded for medical treatment,'was brought, up-and ordered to pay expenses. A firsb offender was, convicted and discharged*
