REMISSION OF SENTENCE.
CAPTURES OF BOERS
(Received October 31st, 10.35 p.m.) LONDON, October 31. Acceding to Mr J_. G. Jellicoe's petition, the King releases on January 11th Trooper Tasker, a New 2lealander, who was sentenced in July to three years' imprisonment for sleeping at his post. Colonel Fortesoue encountered Miller's commando on the 27th, north of Balmoral, and carried on a running fight all day. Four Boers were killed, and fifty-, four taken prisoners. On the 25th Colonel Byng surprised Stanneberg's commando, and captured twenty-two, including Field-Cornets Stanneburg and Ouishuizen. Two Vryburg rebels have been executed, and nineteen sentenced to heavy terms of imprisonment.
