MAGISTRATES' COURTS.
DEFAULT OASES. In the following civil cases at the Magistrate's Court yesterday' the defendants I did iiot appear, and Dr. McArthur, S.M., t gave judgment by default for the ! tiff a:—H. F. Fuhnnonn v. T. B. Smith, I£3 4s 6d; Jas. Forrester v. Wm. Osborne, I£l 3s sd. FOR SERVICES RENDERED. On the ground of services rendered, Alice Stamper sued Martha Bratt far £4 13s 6d. Mr Widdowson appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr Blater for tie defendant. Judgment was given for , the plaintiff for £1 2s 6d, without costs. AN AGREEMENT TO LEASE. Mary Souter some time ago executed an agreement to.lease wifch-W. J. Ouddon, by which he agreed to rent from her a seven-acre paddock at. Wooleton, to keep it in grass, and to preserve it in fair order. When the leaee expired she alleged that the section wae not in grass, and that it cost her several pounds to plough, harrow, and soyr it. Yesterday, accordingly, she sped Cudcloa for £18, and was represented by Mr Bruges. Mr Wigley ; appeared for the defendant. It was stated j for the defendant thkthe paddocfc had been I sown, but that theibad weather had destroyed I the crop. ""The Magistrate deferred his de- i cision until Thursday. J AtXyttelton yesterday, before Mr W- RadcEffe, J.P., Mioliaei Nolan, for permifcting a horse to be at large on. the road at Governor.'s Bay, waa fined 5s and costs. Hβ pleaded that his gate had , been aocidentajly left open, and the torse- 3rad been outside for ».- very, few tninjotes. Two first offenders, charged ■with, 'drunkenness, were convicted- and- discharged. ALLEGED THEFT OF A HORSE.
