The other case, against Edtrardißeaajsley, for aeglecting to provide for.an illegitimates child, his Worship dismissed, holding th*t the defendant was not $c father of the child. Mr Donnelly appeared for the defendant; in each case. My Flesher appeared for, the corn-' plainant in the latter case, and Mr Byrne for the coinplaiflaint in the former. . A female arst offender was 5» fop drnekenness, by Mr H. W. Bishop, Annie Smitii pleaded "(yniltv" , to a charge of drunkenness, and-denied a charge of vagrancy, esplaininf that she was never afforded a chance, for she was no sooner oqt of gaol than she was sent to gaol again. . ALLEGED BUBGLAKY. \ Stanley Dele appeared upon a charge of breaking into 3£r James Kirk's shop, «t and stealing a quantity of tobacco, cigarettes, and pipes, of a total vajne of £14. The offence was alleged to hare taken place on the 9th or 10th of last month. Upon application of Sub-Inspector Black, the accused was remanded, to appear at Bangiora on Tuesday ne^t. PROMPTLY DEALT WITH V A man named CBmrles Thbnras Oook was arrested oir , Saturday at noon by Detective Ifahey on a change of Ktealmg a hammer, a , pair of pincers, and a dandy onish; theproperty of John Pinherty of Christchnrch. Hβ was taken before Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M.. in the afternoon, and, pleading guilty to the charge, \tp» sentenced to one mqnth'ai imprisonment.
