ST. ALBANS.
An unusually short order paper was laid, before the St.Albans Council last evening. Th« (Mr H. Davey) presided, and OrR. New-ton. Anderson. Morgan. Biixton. Carter, Carer, Hyde, Keig, and Barimv were present. TIW Clerk reported that he had arranged with Mr (.'. Massey to act as detr ranpf-K tho offica having b?en declined by Mi* Jackscif During the month. 88 dogs had be?n regishrred. No policy had yet been taken cut to cover the engineer in accident, and the fire brigade members should also be insured. , The report was adopted, and the; Cl,erk was. instructed t f > insure the engineer immediately. The question of insuring the members was left to tlidj consideration of the Fire Prevention Coitaf mitte?. Tlie Works CVinmittee, in their repwt, recommended tkit a pipe drain be put down along , Springfield road as far a« the corner of M* Buxton's section. The Council was advised also to accept the offer of Messrs P. and D. Duncan to supply a road sweeper at a cost of £48 10s. Permission wa« requested to sell tlse two nonces owned by the Council, in order to get two others which should bo lighter and more suitxible for the steam rir* , engine. T,ha report was adwpbed. Rules and regulations driurn up for' the government of tha St. Albans Volunteer Fire Brigade were confirmed. The Foreman's and Pire, Prevention. Committee's reports, wer* adopted. After considering a quantity of formal'correspondence the Council adjourned.
