ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE RESULT'S IN THE HOUSE.
(SPECLAT' TO "THB PRESS.") WELLINGTON, July 18. At 10.30 to-night, when the ftell rang for a House after th« supper adjournment, there were only two membcTß in the Chamber— viz., tlve "Premier and Mr Massey. One or two came in shortly afterwards, but the bell had to be for a quorum. When twenty members had made their appearance the Committee resumed, and the Preanier announced the rnsult of the Christcrhureh electron. Someone asked "Where's Turnbifl'/" and another member inquired if lie was tlie Government num. Mr Seddon replied tbat he was not the Opposition man, to which Mr James Allen retorted, "No, he was not." The Premier also announced the figures as far «us they had been received for tiio F-atea election, viz., Haselden, 740; Ifeslop, 663; 422. There were, he said, thirty returns still to come in, roaiuly from the ba«k blocks. Someone jemarked that it was 'a pretty even thing."
