(SPECIAL TO "THE PRESS.") WELLINGTON, July 18. A considerable quaartity of evidence h** been taken by the Labour Bills Committee of the Legislative Council with regard to those clauses in the Shops and Offices Bill which particularly affect those engaged in banks, warehouses, and insurance offices. So far all the evidence has fully borne oui» the protests that have been raised against the proposed legislation in the various centres of the colony. There is every reason to antioipate that the Committee will be compelled to report against the inclusion of the- olauses.
All the bank officers in Tiinaru have signed a formal protest against the Shops and Officers Bill as unnecessary, unworkable, and calculated to injuriously affect the bank employees. The protest is to be forwarded to Parliament.
