CLEARING SALES.

EL Matson and Co. have to report several successful clearing sales during the last we-k. A few of tbe following we desire to place on record in your paper .*— W. J. MarshalTa sale, Lakeside, on Thursday last—Splendid sale. Horses up to £35; 14 dairy cows averaged £8; other lots sold remarkably well. Miss Simpson's—s2 acres at Lakeside were sold by auction, and realised thesplendid.orice of £37 per acre. Leeston Stock Sale, Friday last>—About 30U pigs and 40 head cattle, and few sheep. AM lots sold well up to ruling rates. Sale of Qoyernment Horses, Saturday l_-t—A siicoessful sale of these horses took place, 28 coming forward, and made from £8 to £16; eager competition for all lots.

Sale of Timber in Victoria square, Saturday last—H. Matson and Co. put through 70,000 feet of timber in one hour anl a quarter, every lot realising its value, making from 9s 6d to 15s 6d per 100 feet. A good attendance of. the trade and oth*T«, and a thorough keenness throughout. Considering the 'holidays, whioh hnve given a dull feeling to everybody, trade is not so bad after all. 2

Messrs Dalgety and C|oanpiiny, Limited, have received, the following cable message from their London office,- under date 28t_ ultimo.: —"Rabbitskins — Since our last telegram prices are higher by Id per lb, except New Zealand prime winter rabbit__ins, whioh are unchanged.
