REPLY TO A FRENCH SUGGESTION
United Press Association —By Elect-lb ■'•■' Telegraph—Copyright. (Received June 10th, 9-35 a.m.) IdELBOUR'NE, June 10. In reference to M. Paail Beaulieu's cabled proposal, the Right Hon. E. Barton nas stated that he could give the distinct assurance that it waa no-part of the Imperial policy to aliiow the new Hebrides to become the sole property of France on any terms yet suggested.
(M. Paul BeauKeu, writing to the "Economiste Francaise," advocated the* annexation of the New Hebrides in exchange for French rights in Newfoundland, France giving an undertaking not to send convicts to the islands. In any event, the writer added, the condominion in the New Hebrides must cease.)
