NOTES FROM VARIOUS SOURCES.
Inquiry from. Mr John Holmes, the Comjnissioner for the Royal visit, has elicited the fact that absolutely nothing is known by the Government of the intentions of the Royal party as to a railway journey to Wairarapa or Mnnawatu. ' At' Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin-Lis Royal Highness's book will be placed at th- lodge to eatable V2sito_*_r to' record their names.
The instalment (20,500) of the medals which Mr G. T. White, of Wellington, is striking to the order of the Government for presentation to the State school children of the colony is now being distributed to the fallowing Education Boards: — Auckland, 6500; New Plymouth, 3000; Wanganui, 4000; Napier, 2000; Blenheim, 1000; Nelson, 2000. Greymoubh, 1000 ; Hokitika, 1000- The distribution to the other Education Boards in the colony will' be made, immediately Sir White is able to fill another portion of the order. Upwards of 100 tons of paper were used for the week's issue of the Melbourne "Age" during the Royal visit. The entire issue achieved a record which has not been accomplished by any other paper in Australia.
