ST. JOHN AMBULANCE ASSOCIATION'S ADDRESS.
The 'following is tlie address, signed by "the. * officers - t.f " the dlfftfret-t centres in the colony of St. John Ambulance Association, whioh is to be presented to his Royal Highness the Duke of Cornwall and York by his Excellency the Governor at Wellington. His Royal Highness is Prosidlent and Grand Prior of the OrdeT:— .
"We, members of the St. John Ambulance Association in New Zealand, humbly approach your Royal Highness, and heartily welcome you to this distant portion of the British Empire. While deploring the mournful event which led to it, we congratulate your Royal Highness on your elevation to the head of an Order of such antiquity, whose members in the present day are endeavouring, to carry out the aims of the founders of the Order by devoting themselves to the beneficent task of relieving the sick and suffering. We desire to express bur loyalty to our Sovereign Head and Patron, has' Most Gracious Majesty King Edward the Seventh. We trust that your Royal Highness, the Duchess and your family may long enjoy health and happiness." His Excellency the Governor's signature follows, and tlien the signatures of the officers of the Christohurch Centre and the signatures of the officers of the other centres, according to' the date of their formation.
Both the Auckland and Dunedin centres expressed the opinion that the address should be presented to his Royal Highness in Christchurch in view of the fact that the first branch of the Association was formed here, burb the matter having been submitted to his Excellency the Governor he decided that aa the Wellington centre had proposed the presentation of the address .it should be presented at Wellington.
At the meeting of the Committee of the Christchurch Branch yesterday the address was approved. v
