HEATHCOTE ROAD BOARD.

The annual meeting of the Beathcote Road Board was held last evening. Messrs G. H. MoHaffie (chairman), H. Jdace, J. ' Martin, E. Wilkinson, Robert _t_jalco_m, and , a number of ratepayers were present. Thi adopted balance-sheet for tbe year showed the total receipts on the general account to have been £1932 14s 3d; total expenditure, £1811 5s 8d; credit balance, £120 18s 7d. The receipts of the contractors' deposit together with last year's balance of £6, amounted to £18; £44 Os 6c had been paid to the South 'Waimakarii. River Board rates account, £706 8s 7d tc the Christohurch Drainage Board rates ac count, and £192 9s 9d to the Hospital anc Charitable Aid rates account. The statement of assets and liabilities showed assets £558 14s, and liabilities £192 7s Id. T_w statement of balances represented a credil balance on the general account of £120 18* 7d, contractors' deposit account £18, and credit bilance Road Board account al Bank £138 18s 3d. j The Chairman, in referring to the service* rendered to the Board by the clerk, Mi I Alexander Webster, mentioned during hii ! seven years' of office, the whole of the ratei 1 had been collected, and probably there was not another Road Board in Australasia which could show such a record. He re gretted that Mr Webster was going to trans fer his services to Linwood, but he hat not yet gone, and as far as the speaker wa concerned,, he was ready to offer him ani reasonabte inducement to remain. -.-'"..
