MEETING OF THE CHILDREN'S COMMITTEE.

was not anticipated tbat*there would be any difficulty in getting the children seated ten or fir-tea. minutes before the Duke _nd Duchess arrived* Returns seat in showed that 5685 children would probably be present, and in addition it is expected that 25 oh-dxen will attend from .the Maori school at Ru-paki.

It was resolved that the ba_d% for the schools from which the girls to present the bouquet are to be selected take place at 4 p.m. on Tuesday next. Miss Kitehingman urged the desirability of keeping the sexes separate in seating the children.

The opinion was expressed, that the children could bring flags if they liked, of their own, but that the committee would not undertake to supply them. Mr 'Murphy said he thought that if the townspeople fcnew if refreshments -were required tbey would provide a few tins of biscuits and loSies to give to the country children on their return. The matter was left in Mr Murphy's hands. In reply to Mr Winny, the Chaiiman said there were albout 300 teachers who* would b. present in addition to the children, and who had not been iiKluded in the numbers given. The teachers would be provided with gribbon streamers, and the members of the committee are to wear a uniform rosette. Mr C. H. Winny was appointed to take ■ Mr Thompson's duties as a member of toe sub-committee dur.ng the latter's absence in Wellington.
