RICCARTON.

A meeting o? the Xieensihg Committee was held at Riccarton yesterday, Mr H. WBishop, S.M/, presiding, and all the Committee being present. The following applications were granted for transfers of licenses:—John- Thomas* Gifford to Ebenezer Buchanan, Junction Hotel, Halswell.

The following Avere renewed: —John Cowper, Phoenix Hotel, Papanui; William Alfred Lawrence. Papanui Hotel, Papanui; Peter John Kelly, Star Hotel, Lincoln-road; Chas. G. Baker," Black Horae, Lincoln road ; Timothy Keiiy, Riccarton Hotel: William Cole Webb, Bush Inn, Upper Riccarton; Murray Hobbs, Racecourse • Hotel; Jas. Poff, Islington Arms Hotel, Islington; John Franks, Talbot Hotel, Yaldhurst; Ebenezer Buchanan, Junction Hotel, Halswell; C. W. Dawson, Templeton Hotel ,* Geo. Holt, Prebbleton Hotel; Thos. Farr, Lincoln Hotel. Wm. Baylis, West Melton Accommodation House, was ordered to build two .bedrooms, provide two 400-gallon tanks, and build and properly equip a bathroom. The case waa adjourned for fourteen days to enable him to make the alteration. If, on that date, nothing had been done, the license be refused.

Permission was given to the licensees of the Riccarton, Star,.,Papanui, Phoanix, and Black Horse Hotels to extinguish the light over the front doors at the hour of closing. All the other hotels must burn their lights all night. Tho hour of closing for the Star Hotel was extended from 10 p.m. till 11 p.m.
