SHEFFIELD MARKET.
At the Sheffield monthly market on Friday there was an entry of about 5400 sheep and lambs, a few pigs and cattle, and the attendance was good, both of farmers and dealers. The lambs, which constituted about half the entry, were for the most part lacking finish, many penned as fat being little better than good forward rape sorts, and were bought by graziers as such- The competition for prime freezing lots was in sympathy with lho decline at Addington. There was an entire absence of freezing wethers. The store sheep, consisting principally of dealers' lines, also met with an easier demand, the bulk of the entry being passed at auction. The following were the prices : —Freezing lambs 14s 9d to 16s Id, lambs for rape 13s 3d to 14s 3d, store lambs lis 2d to 12s lOd, fat crossbred ewes 15s 3d to 16s 6d, two-tooth crossbred wethers 15s 3d to 16s 3d, two-tooth crossbred ewes 15s 6d to 16s 9d, mixed ages 10s 5d to 10_ 9d, 600 merino ewes in the wool with larnb11s 3d (all counted).
