OBITUARY.
The death is announced of Mr Edwiu Steeds, produce merchant, which took place after a six weeks' illness, at his residence, Windmill road, on Sunday, hi. age being sixty-six. The late Mr Steeds was born at- Evercreech, Somersetshire, cams out to Victoria in the early -lays when he took the maiiagttn—ii l of one of Mr Fry's large; flour mills, and subsequently went 'into the produce business in Sydney." He then came to New Zealand, and for a number of ye_; ••* waa a member of the well-known firm of Candy and Steeds, produce merchant--, of Christehurdi. Mr Candy retired from tha business about 1892, and sifi—> the dissolution of partnership Mr Steeds has conducted the dairy produce department for Messrs Wood Bros. Mr Steeds was much respected by ai! who knew him, and he leaves a widow, three daughters, and five sons, tha eldest, Mr Mark Steeds, being the New Zealand manager for Messr. Henry Berry and Co.
