THE ABBEY HOLME.
Shortly after midday yesterday the Abbey Holme, from ~ew York via Port Chalmers, arrived at Lyttelton, with 1200 tons of general cargo, consigned to the N"ew Z<?i£wd Shipping Company. This is her firs' visit to this port. She is a steel screw steamer, and was built at Sunderland in 1899 by Messrs J. L. Thompson and Sons, Limited, Her tonnage is 3105
gross, end 1996 net, and her dimensions are • Length 342£t, beam 45.2 ft, depth of hold V6l'T s She lias triple expansion engines of 29G no™ * uajl hoTse-power. Sho has comfortable ■ ' commodation for a dozen pasaengois. She 1 £■ owned by Messrs Hino Bros., of Marypor' * and is commanded by Captain Brown who/ c officers are—Unef, Mr Nelson; second V* I Graham; wird, Mr Bluett. The ensu'i..*, * are—Chief, Mr Toplcy; second, Mr Sirnnscm 1 third, Mr Reid. The chief steward is M* ? ■Wilkinson.
