(PKESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, January 19. "Wind—Easterly gale, decreasing northward o£ the Thames and JJanukau, moderate to strong easterly winds thence southwards of the east coast to Napier; moderate north-east to north-west winds at other places. Barometer—Rise at places northward of Napier and New Plymouth, fall elsewhere. Sea—Heavy easterly swell on all the eastern coast, moderate to considerable from the westward on all western coast. Tides—High on the eastern coast north of Castlepoint, good thence southward, moderate but increasing on all western coast. SYNOPSIS OF THE PREVIOUS 24 HOURS. Pressme has increased very slowly everywhere. Strong winds to gale from, the eastward are continuing northward of the riast Cape, Taupo, and Kaglan. Rain has fallen generally in that area, but the weather has continued line in all other parts of the couutry. A low pressure passed eastward of the meridian 175 east, and moving on a more easterly route than usual, hae not approached the Nortn Cape nearer than 300 miles distance. A low pressure from the west will pass eastward of the meridian of the South Cape on the 21st and 23rd insta.
