ORDINARY MEETING.

f The Christchurch City Council met last ! evening. Present —His Worship the Mayor \ (Mr W. Recce), and Crs. Smith. Prudhoe, Sorensen, Wood. Cooper, Clarke, Gray, J Appleby, Samuels, Andrews, Green. Rates outstanding total i £1173 7s lOd. | A letter from Dr. Russell with regard to i damage to drain-pipes through traction engine traffic through the city (and another I forwarded from the Drainage Board) were referred to the By-laws Committee. Day Adventist camp, and its sanitary condi--1 tion. took place, the matter being referred : to the Sanitary Committee. i The Mayor said be had decided to call a 1 public meeting for Tuesday. January 29th, t > ditcuw the "hainesting of the Waimakariri " and it would be well to have the Council represented. This was agreed to, and it was rexolved to appoint certain Crs. to attend the meeting. Crs. The City Surveyor (Mr A. D. Dobson) submitted "the plan of a, bridge at the East Town Belt, which has been approved ot by ths Works Committee, which asked tbe Council's authority to call tenders for it. The Works Committee recommend the Council to accept Mr W. "Smith's tender for a morgue, to cost £531 2s. i The report was adopted. Tlie Sanitary Committee reported that tlie drains at the bottom of George street, Richmond, were in a disgraceful state.—Resolved that the matter receive attention.

The Sanitary Committee also reported: — Wutrgons for the sealed-pan system will be delivered ihis.wei-k. It was further recommended that Dr. Frengley be allowed to retain the title of " Public "Health Officer," of Christchurch during his absence in England.—Agreed to.
