CHRISTCHURCH PROHIBITION LEAGUE.
At the latest meeting of the Christchurcn Prohibition League, Mr W. McCombe p«sided. A letter was received from the be* Zealand Alliance, stating that Mr J- **• Woollev, who lately stood for the Pres';dencv of the United States in the Prohibition "interest, would arrive in Auckland oa May 23rd, and had consented to deliver a number of addresses in the colony. lt.-W***.-decided to write to the Alliance, and secure two nights for Christchurch, leaving tne dates to be fixed by the Alliance. It ** a - also decided to try and obtain the Agricultural Hall for the meetings. . The Secretary stated that the annual meeting would be _eld early in February, and « was decided to invite Messrs H. tx. W< M.H.R., T. E. Taylor, and G. J- Smith to address the meeting. It was also stated that a movement sr&s on foot to secure the services of Lady Somerset for a lecturing tour througa w»colony, and it was decided that a le.ter r» sent to the New Zealand AlUance. recommending that I_dv Somerset should De invited to visit the Jolony, and address meetings in the cause of prohibition.
