MINING NEWS.

The secretary of the Reeves's Proprietary Gold Dredging Company, Mr H. A. Bruce, received a telegram yesterday from the dredgemaster advising having washed up 14oz gold for 120 hours' dredging.

Messrs Lucas Brothers, of this city, are the successful tenderers for the erection and housing in of the machinery on the dredges of the following companies:—Woodstock, Hokitika Extended, and Hokitika Junction.

Our Dunedin correspondent telegraphs: — The rivers are high, the Molyneux being 12ft above normal. It is expected that the work of the Rivers Commission will _c completed next week, when the Awamoko stream will be finally dealt with.

The Secretary of the Nelson Creek reports having received a telegram from the dredgemaster yesterday afternoon as follows: — "Broke down with elevator. Do not expect to start again this week."
