POLICE -COURTS.
I Robert Joseph Lanauze, who was found I drunk, on the Mile road, Dallington, -on September 19th, was still unfit to appear, and he .was accordingly remanded for a week by Messrs F. Hobbs and E. Skog.-J's.P; - --- . - Prohibition orders were granted against James Hannah and Ernest Digby Ram. The Lyttelton case of .Rowe v Kelly was argued before Mr R. Beetham, S.M., yesterday morning. The plaintiff claimed £5 damages sustained by him owing to defendant's neglect to keep a hillside and fence from blocking up a right-of-way to defendant's land. The defendant pleaded that he was not liable, as he was merely a mortgagee, and, moreover, the occupier wjas the proper person to sue. Mr Johnston appeared for the plaintiff and 'Mr Bruges for the defendant. His Worship gave judgment for the plaintiff for £3.
At Lyttelton, yesterday, before Messrs J. T. Brice and'W. Cook, J.'sP., Joseph Sands, for giving tobacco to a prisoner, was fined 20s, or seven days.' imprisonment.
