LYTTELTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.
At the Lytfcelton Borough Council meeting on Monday night, the Lyttelton Gas Company wrote declining to sell their plant, and asking for a, conference on the subject of future lighting. Consideration was postponed. Mr Richardson, of the British Hotel, wrote asking the Council to pay for ceiling the dive. Referred to the Estates Committee. The Finance Committee reported receipts £176 12s 4d, and frecommended payment o-f accounts £119 3s 7d. The amount paid on account of loan was £960. The report was adopted. A favourable report by the inspector of nuisances was adopted. The Fire Prevention Committee recommended the erection of a shed to accommodate a reel and 400 ft of hose in Voelas road, the purchase of a tele-phone to connect West j Lyttelton with the Fire Brigade station, and ' the connecting by telephone of the superintendent's house with the station. The report was adopted. The engineer at tilie pumping station reported that, 2,733,000 gallons had been pumped during the last month, as compared with 2,747,000 gallons pumped during th« corresponding period last year.
