Wind—Gale from between north-east and north and west at all places northward of Cape Farewell and Cape Campbell, and from between north and east and south-east at all other places. Barometer—Fall everywhere. Sea—Very heavy on all western coast, heavy on the east coast north of the East Cape ana between Castlepoint and Lyttelton; moderate elsewhere. Tides—Very high on all the western coast north of Westport, high from thence to Hokitika, high on the east coast north of the East Cape; poor from thence to Castlepoint, high from there southwards. Rain will be heavy northward x>f Port Chalmers and Queenstown, with floods after sixteen hours in the North Island rivers, running out on the east coast on the north of the East Cape, and on all the western coast on both islands. Warning signals for northerly gales are exhibited at Cape Maria van Diemen and Tiritiri, and for easterly gales at Capes Campbell, Farewell Spit, Foulwind. .* SXNOPSie OS , THE PBEVIOUS 24 HOUBS. Slowly; falling barometer everywhere generally' with moderate northerly winds, and rain has fallen in all parts of the country north, of Lyttelton and Hokitika. A low pressure from the north-west, of unusual extent, is at about 200 miles to the north-west of Cape Farewell, travelling to the south-east, and has deflected a low pressure from the west, due on this date, to an unusual route.
