The arrangements for the national and native concert under the auspices of the Natives' Association, to be held on September 18th, are progressing favourably. At a meeting of the Entertainment Committee it was reported that a number of our b*st ' Ci il !St3 IJiaci con-sen ted to sing, and tihat Mr Hastings, of the R-uapaH native school, was bringing a party of native dancers. The annual social of the Christchurdi bhorthand Writers' Association will be held at bt. John s Schoolroom on Thursday eveaing. A very- pleasant programme has'been arranged, and there is every probabiity cf a large attendance.
