At a meeting of sergeant-majors and coloursergeants on Saturday in the Linwood Rifles' ordfirly-room, Battalion Srgt-Major Steere in the chair, it wus decided to hold a supppr Cor sergeants on September 27th, at which the proposal to form a sergeants' club for North Canterbury should be discussed, and if possible the club formed. The Ashburton Mounted Rifles had some target shooting on. Saturday at the new range on the Lagmhor estate Despite tbo heavy wind blowing, some good scores were obtained, Lieutenant A. A. Fooks securing 80 points for the throe ranges. At Oxford the Mounted Rifles are thinking of clearing the boulders off a paddock in which they exercise, and the Road Board has agreed to buy the stones when collected together. The North Canterbury Mounted Rifles, in driH order, mustered about eighty of all ranks at Kaiapoi on Saturday afternoon, | under Captain Cosgrove. Meuts. Uru. Home, and Moir. Steady drill in outpost work •was conducted in Mr K. Mclntosh's paddock.
