FOOTBALL.

TO THE SDITOB OF THE PUSSS. Sir, —I hope you will grant mc space in your valuable paper to give vent to my (and I can saiely say, hundreds of other people's) feelings _.bout the way our teams are picked. They start off by picking no wing forwards, but "before the match ia started they take one of our best "scrummers" (Ayers) and put him on the wing, where he can neither do himself or the team justice. Then Forbes is put in as five-eighths, what for I'm sure I cannot say. In the next match the man who undoubtedly played the best back game on the ground (Weston) is put out in order to pacify another club. Now, sir, what I want to get at is this—if they want to have each club represented', why were the best men not chosen. In this respect I tbi._k the Albion Club have cause for complaint. To pick men like Douglas and Johnston in preference to Wilson and Powrie is most absurd. I have watched Wilson several times this season, and he is without doubt the best wing here. I'm sure the committee could not do better than select him against Otago, because I am satisfied he could beat Duncan at his own game, i.e., tricks. Although he was not asked to train, he is in splendid form, judging by the game he played for the E Battery yesterday. I hope, sir, the committee will look at it in the best interests of the game, and give a new man a chance. —Yours, etc, CANTERBURY.
