Sea.—Heavy on the east coast north of Kaikoura. !■ Tides.—High on the east coast north of the East Cape and thence south to Cape Palliser, moderate southward of that place, ana low on ail the western coast. Rain has' fallen at most places north of the East Cape, Taupo and Raglan, with strong easterly winds, but the weather has been generally ;fine elsewhere, and there has been frost in parts of Otago. Yesterday evening's reports. The following reports received by Captain Edwin, R.N., show the weather on Ajprh 23rd,-'at 5 p.m.: — - Newi Plymouth—Wind, N.W., light; baro., 30.10; therm., 74; gloomy, sea moderate. Castlopoint—Wind, S.E., light; baro., 30.23; therm., 62; fine, sea, smooth. Wellington—Calm; baro., 30.25; therm., 67; fine. . Westport —■ Calm; baro., 30.10; therm., 67; cloudy, sea smooth. Kaikoura—Wind, N.E., light; baro., 30.16; therm., 60; cloudy; sea smooth. Oamaru—Wind, -..E., light; bare, 30.16; therm., 54; cloudy, sea choppy. '.-. Biuff-r-Wind, E., light; baro., 30.07; therm., 54; gloomy.
