Monday, April 23. (Before F. E. Wright and K. H. Wood, Es(js., J.P.s) Drunkenness. — Three first offenders \rho had been locked up since Saturday morning, were convicted and discharged. Annie Frascr was charged with being found drunk in the Sydenham Park on Saturday. Hlmj was convicted and discharged, on condition that she went to the Salvation Army Home. William J. Kinley was charged with being violently drunk on the Christchuruh Railway platform late on Saturday evening, and also with damaging a cab to the extent of £1 2s 6d, the property of Henry Harris. The accused was fined 5s for tne drunkenness, and ordered to pay for the damage done, in default seven days' imprisonment. Twenty-four hours were allowed In which to pay the money. Ohscknk Lanuuaqk. — Walter Guy and 'Alfred Kostella were charged with using obacene language in George street, on Saturday night. They were further charged with assaulting Francis Donnelly. Kostella was also charged with being drunk in George street. Kostella pleaded "guilty" to the three charges, Guy stated that he knew nothing about the affair. The evidence was to the effect that the two accused had behaved first of all in a very violent manner in the public bar of Coker"s Hotel, dancing en the table and abusing and challenging «Wryone. Amnion Brkakixo and Entering.— Harry Hills was charged with having, on April 2bt, at Lirrwood, broken and catered tko hojisy of Thomas Manifold, and with stealing therefrom £4 and a knife valued 6s. Sub-Inspector O'Brien*asked for a remandtill Friday next, as there wore other charges pending against the accused. The remand was grant#d.

AliiKgki) Attkupt to Commit Smews. — Thomas Griffon was charged with having, on tW 20th April, at CUristchurch, attempted to commit suicide.
