WOOLSTON.

The annual meeting off the householders of this district, held , last night, was moderately attended. Mr T. Manifold presided. The report of the Committee stated ■with regret that there -waiTno available site for a school bath. The average attendance at the school showed' an improvement, but owing to the previous falling off the school was not staffed as strongly as hitherto. The Committee was emphatically of opinion that with the prosperous circumstances of the colony and the desirability of retaining the best teachers, it was a retrograde step on tie part of t"he Board to reduce salaries as Had been done in such-an unequal manner, and t"he Government ought to provia*. sufficient funds to raise the school grant. .Owing to lack of support from the pa-reuts the projected picnic had to be abandoned. The report of the Inspector was of a satisfactory nature. The report of the Committee was adopted. ' The Committee for the ensuing year, was elected -without opposition as under: — Messrs T. Manifold, W. T. Thomas, J. T. Trerise, W. W. Burgess, M. Rofbertson, J. Milne, W. Cordery, J. Ckwortfh, and H. A. Owen. .

An animated discussion took place concerning a letter from tie Education Board enjoining teachers in its service not to talce part in the school committee elections, arid" a motion censuring the Board on ita "arbitrary and d'aspotic" action: was negatived on a show of hands, the feeling of the majority being that the letter was not properly before the householders. t , The usual votes of thanks closed the meeting. .."'..•.
