NOTES AND MEMORANDA.
The Chrietchurch Physical Training School and Gymnasium was open on featurday to visitors for inspection. The school is well lighted, well arranged and clean, and is well equipped with all the necessary appliances.
The Christchurch Orpheus Society intend giving a concert at the Choral Hall to-mor-row evening. All the vocal members of the Society, it may be noted, are males. The programme includes violin solos by Misa Freda Marsden, vocal eolos by Messrs Baldwin, Sorrell, Williamson, Barlow and Byers, and quartettes, choruses and part songs by the membere of the Society. Miss Nora MacLeod Smith will act as accompanist, and Mr J. T. MacLeod Smith as conductor.
Messrs M. J. Burke, G. H. C. Clifford, J. Cameron and J. H. Hall have been nominated for the three vacancies on the Waipara Road Bjard. A poll will be taken on Monday, \iay 7th. The entries for the winter show of the Chrietchurch Horticultural Society will close with the hon. secretary, Mr Dann, Colombo ttreet, at 8 p m., to-morrow. .Entries for the South Kensington Science and Art Examinations must be made at Canterbury College not later than noon on May sth.
The annual meeting of the Yorkshire Society of Canterbury will be held in the Caledonian Rooms to-morrow evening. The president, Sir John Hall, will occupy the chair. At the conclusion of the ordinary business, a smoke social will be held, to wish bon voyage to Mr Wa'fcjr Hill, vice-presi-dent, who is leaving for England. The following have been nominated as candidates for election to tue Addington School Committee:—Messrs J. Brown, Jtt. Bell, N. K. Bowden, J. A. Clarke, J. Down, J. Hooper, W. Johnson, J. Moore, and F. J. Staples.
