WEDDINGS.
A quiet wedding took, place at St. Luke's Church yesterday, when Miss Mabel Treleavan, daughter of Mr fleorge Treleavan, of Christchurch, was married by the Yen. Archdeacon Lingard. to Mr Joseph Wallace, son of the late Mr R. S. Wallace, of Christchurch. Miss Maud Banks acted as bridesmaid, and the bridegroom was attended by his brother.
. Our Ashburton correspondent writes that there was a very large*gathering yesterday dTternoon to witnera the marriage of Mr C. W. Seymour. eldest son of Mr Seymour, dentist, Cbristchurch. with Miss Beatrice Denshire, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs W. B. Denshire, two of the oldest and most esteemed resident* of the Ashburton district. The newly-enlarged church was filled with friends" from all part* of the country. The altar, chancel, and choir stalls 'were beautifully decorated with a wreath of white autumnal flowers and evergreens. The vicar (the Re.v. R. A. Woodthorpe. M.A.) was the officiating clergyman, and the choral portion of the service was conducted by Mr H. A. Gates, with Mrs Claridge (supported by a small orchestra) at the organ. A merry peal rang out at the close of the marriage service, after which a very laraje number of invited guests were entertained in a large marquee ou the lawn in the front of the residence of the parent* of the bride. The Hon. W. J. Steward. M.H.R.. proposed the health of the newly- wedded pair. Mr Seymour, jun. (the bridegroom's brother), that of the bridesmaids, and Mr C. W. Purnell that of the parents of the bride. Mr a«d Mrs t-eymour left (,n tiieir boneyraoou trip by the afternoon train south, aud the railway platform was crowded with their friends.
