SIR JUSTICE EDWARDS RESIGNS
THE PRESIDENCY.

WELLINGTON, April 17. At the Trades Conference Mr Slater announced that Mr Justice Edwards had resigned the . presidency of the Arbitf ation Court. The latter had informed him that the conditions upon which he heJd the office ;had not been complied with, and on April 4th t3ie Premier informed him that other arrangements had been made for discharging the duties of president. Mr Justice Edwards B6 once forwarded itis resignation, Bo it was unlikely that there would be a sitting of the Court before June. A resolution was at onoa moved urging the Government to immediately appoint a president. One of the speakers thought that the way in which the affairs of the Court had been administered was a disgrace to the colony. The motion was carried unanimously. The Eight Hours Bill was discussed, and approved with amendments. The Master and Apprentices Bill was adopted as passed by the last conference.
