KILLED WHILE TRYING TO SAVE HIS HAT.
(PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) OAMARU, April 17. A man named Richard Direen was killed on the railway at Deborah last night. His hat fell off while the engine was shunting, and he got off to pick it up. While he was doing so, the carriage moved, and the wheels passed over him. The hat was under the carriage.
