The British Navy is held in readiness for immediate mobilisation if necessary. Mr Gosdhen i-us submitted the Naval Estimates. The total vote amounts to 27£ millionaIt is proposed to build two new battleships and six fir*t-cla?s armoured cruisers, and to add 4240 men to the strength of the Navy. Mr Goschen stated that he was awaiting the establishment of the Australian Federation central authority, hoping then to arrange a eystem of colonial naval reserve. The Admiralty intends to coal the fleet more freely in the colonies.
