After a very exciting finish Canterbury, were returned victors in the match'-with' Wellington by the narrow margin of one wicket. The first cricket match between the Wellington College and Christ's College Old Boys' Associations began yesterday afternoon. The visiting team made 2(X> runs in the first innings, the highest scorers being Harman 12, Weston 52, Beckett 44, Tapper 19, and Mcßeth 36 {not out). Wellington made 3 runs HjJ its firsfc over, after which stumps were drawn.' The game ,was resumed to-day, and the local team made 138 (Sanderson and Jacobs 29 each, and Cole 15). Harman took three Iwickets for 50 runs, Vincent threel fpr 37, and Day two for 7. la their cabond attempt the visitors closed the:r innings afc 115 for nin^;wickets , (Ormsby 35, ,Tapper 15, not ovkih and Mcßeth and R. Vincent 12 each). Gamour took four wickets for 37, Kirkcaldie two for 20, and Pope three for forty. This left Wellington with 177 to get in two hours. Jacobs (78) and Kirkcaldie (44) started merrily, putting on 110 for the first wicket. remaining bftismen forced the game, and eventually won with three wickets to spare, within three minutes of time. Lancaster Park beat Wellington Second Eleven by an innings and 58 runs. The home team in their second innings only made 54. , NELSON, December 26.
