(from otjr owk correspondent.) The bachelors of Cheviot gave a most roooessful ball at the Town Hall, McKensie, Cheviot, on Friday evening. There was a crowded attendance. - A very severe nor'-west wind was blowing hard all day on Sunday, causing some damage. The usual stock market was held at M.'Ke—iie, Cheviot, on Friday last, at Mr W. T. Robinson's yards. In the unavoidable absence of Mr Robinson, Mr J. B. Oliver was auctioneer. The entries of sheep and cattle were small. Some interest was ehowiTin the sale of horses, drays, etc., of Mr D. O'Connor's, and these realised fair prices. The surf boat at Port Robinson, Cheviot, is being repaired. The Wakatu is resusning running for the delivery of cargo at Port Robinson, and the port having been closed for some time, freight will 'have accumu__ted.
