The musical and elocutionary contests in connection with the Band of Hope UnioiJ were continued last night at the Choral Hall, The items included vocal and. flute solos, vocal quartettes, violin and piano duets, choir selections, and dialogues. Another will take place this evening, when piano and vocal duets, action songs, and dialogues will | be given. A meeting of the Council of the N.Z.A.A. will take place to-n'ght, at eight o'clock, at tho Occidental Hotel The firet meeting of the Canterbury Cricket Association, under the new constitution, will be held at the Clarendon Hotel to m row, at 8 p.m. 'lne tender of Mr P. Burke for the luncheon, etc., at the Show Grounds on the occasion of the Metropolitan Show has - been accepted. The Executive .Committee of the Floral Fete "have opened up communication with the heads of the various Friendly Societies as to an emblematical display, and a meeting to confer with them will be held this evening. A meeting of the .General Conumttee of the Floral Eete, ladies "and gentlemen, will * be held at 3 p.m. to-day at- the City Council Chambers. A meeting of the Executive will also be held at 7r30 p.m. A prohibition meeting will-be held in the y Opera. House on Sunday next, when Rev. I Scott Allan and others will give addresses. |
