The* wheat market is un- : settled, and quotations are wide. Chick, ! 2s 8d to 2s IOd; milling, 3s Id to 3s 4d, with an advancing tendency. Flour, £7 to £7 15s. Oats, very firm, and strongly held; feeding, New Zealand prime, quoted at 2s Id; medium, Is lid to 2s; Tasmanian, Is 8d to Is lid; seeding Tartarian, Is 10d to Is lid. Barley, Cape, 2s 3d to 2s sd; English, 2s 3d to 2s 6d. Maize, firm, 2s 10d. Peas, Blue Prussian, 3s 3d to 3s 6d. Bran and pollard, 9d to 9Jd. Potatoes, Circular Heads, scarce, pending arrivals, are quoted at £3 to £3 10s; New Zealand Derwents, £2 17g 6d to £3; Early Rose, £3 15s. Onions, quiet; prime, £4 to £5 ss; other sorts to £3 10s; American, £4 10s to £6. Butter, dairy, B£d to 9d; factory, lOd. Cheese, large, 4£d to 4j|d; loaf, 5d to sid. Bacon, 5d to 7d. MELBOURNE, October 18. Wheat, unsettled; nominally 3s 4d to 3s 6d. Oats, strong demand and very firm, Is 7£d to Is lid. Maize, scarce, 2s 8d to 2s 9d. Bran and pollard, 9|d to lOd. Potatoes, quiet, £1 5s to £1 12s 6d. Onions to £4. ADELAIDE, October 18. Wheat is very firm and advancing; 3s 4d i 3 asked; sales at 3s 2d and 3s 3d. Flour, £7 5s to £7 10s. Oats, Dun and Algerian, Is lOd to 2s; stout, 2s to 2s 6d. Bran and pollard, 9jd to lOd. [Note- —The above quotations are those ruling between merchant and retailer, and do not represent the slightly lower values obtained by the recognised broker.] At the wool sales in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide, competition is very strong, and the advances, excepting for inferior crossbreds, which are easier, are well maintained.
